Jersey Marine Gateway
Jersey Marine is a new village covered by Groundwork in NPTCBC. It is situated in the ward of Coedffranc, on the edge of Swansea and is well known for its idyllic walks along the canal and the richness of its biodiversity.
We started working with this active community a few months ago and following few consultations, it was agreed to fund a gateway fixture into the village. With the help of Camarthen based artist David Lloyd, a permanent fixture was designed following several public consultations.
This project has received tremendous support and involvement from this very active community. The design is based on local residents perception of Jersey Marine and what represents best this village.
The art work which is made of an engraved limestone resting on a drystone wall will be installed by the middle of March 2011 and will welcome people to the village.
