Croeserw Gateway
This project was originally identified by Croeserw Youth Action Group (CYAG) with support of the Upper Afan Communities First. The group has been working with guidance from Nigel Talbot to create a gateway entrance fixture into the village and the Afan Forest Park from the Maesteg Valley. Numerous workshop have taken place with the group and youth club to design these 2 fixtures.
They are made of local Pennant stones and reclaimed wood, and represent the group interpretation of the area. The outline of the structures are following the mountainous range of the valley and throughout the work, ceramic plaques designed by the volunteers can be found.
This project has had a lot of publicity and support from the Local Authority and local community groups which are active in the valley. It comes at a time when majorĀ re-development is to happenĀ in Croeserw and will be a good addition to these changes by brightening up the area and giving the residents and people involved in this project a great sense of achievement, ownership and pride.
