The Community Gateways programme is led by the needs of local people in the rural communities of Neath Port Talbot. The team of dedicated Groundwork staff help to co-ordinate and facilitate small-scale, physical environmental projects that have a gateways theme linked to them. The projects could be an art feature and have a cultural or heritage link to the community. The project officers will work with local people of all ages to encourage them to get involved with their projects.

The Community Gateways team will work with community groups to help with consultations, project design and planning, engagement of an environmental artist and installation of the works. They are on hand to assist with fund-raising, project planning, training and getting the job done. The team can also access landscape architects to assist with adding that creative touch to any project.

By taking positive action, communities throughout Neath Port Talbot have the chance to shape and change their local environment. This fantastic opportunity has been made possible by funding received through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
