Gail Devine

Community Gateway Project Officer

gd

I work with rural communities to develop and implement small environmental projects based around the theme of ‘community gateways’.

My role is to manage the projects from start to finish. I am there to advise, inspire and motivate the local community to encourage as much involvement as possible in every aspect of their project. I have the experience and skills to undertake environmental projects, but without local people’s knowledge and pride for their community projects would not be possible.
Where ever possible local people are the ones that undertake the project work; be it their ideas, skills, practical work or long term commitment to looking after the project once completed.

Put simply my job is to help local people improve their environment where they live!

Background

Born and brought up in North Wales I have lived in the south for the past 15 years. Following time at college in Cambridge and Wolverhampton I arrived at Groundwork via working on Flat Holm and as a ranger on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.
I am interested in all aspects of natural history and try to make the most of the free food the local countryside provides.
I am an avid Wrexham Football Club fan and go to as many matches as I can.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling, cinema and all things coastal. In recent years I have been a keen, if not so good skier and have competed in a couple of triathlons.
